After we settled into our new home, we wanted to list our old home on the market. My wife’s brother had sold his house in recent months and had spoken kindly of his agent, James Chen. We decided to give James a try and we are glad that we did. He was very detailed and attentive from the time of listing to the closed of escrow.
Before listing, James did a walkthrough of the house and advised us on the approaches to listing such as how to prepare it for listing, how much we should price it, and the potential pitfalls we might encounter in the process. He didn’t try to upsell to get our business. He laid it out in realistic terms so when we did encountered problems during the escrow period, we were sort of prepared.
When the offers came in, we discussed and selected the one that was best suited for us. Going in, we knew the selected buyer would finance using reverse mortgage. For whatever reason, the process stalled a couple of times but James kept us informed. He was in constant contact with us to allay our frustrations and to update us with the buyer’s loan situation.
In the end, we got what we asked for. We credited James for his steadiness during the time of uncertainty.
He mentioned from the start of the listing, that he would donate 10% of this commission to a charity of our choice, and he emailed us the receipt for it at the end. That goes to show he’s not just about making money. He cares about his client and the community. I would highly recommend James to anybody who’s looking for a real estate agent.
